Abstract                                                                                                                 

Most surgical  treatment of fractures involves drilling Guide wires/ K wires across fractures. These wires and screws need to be placed accurately in specific predetermined areas of bone for maximum purchase to impart strength to the construct. The procedure is drilling these Guide wires / K wires into affected bone under C arm image guidance suffers from drawbacks of “trial and error” and “Free hand technique”.
System for accurate guide wire positioning comprising of Software and Jigs offers a unique solution to this problem. It consists of software component and hardware component . Software installed in Carm detects and automatically extends Guide wire image and projects future position of guide wire. Jigs with attached sleeves steady the guide wire  and give a predetermined suitable direction to the guide wire. They also allow surgeon to control exit point of K  wire.
The software and jigs together become a powerful tool in hands of surgeon, eliminating “Free hand technique” and “trial and error”. It is expected to improve accuracy, save surgical time and reduce radiation.
